I've been building an InMoov for about 6 months now. For a long time he was just a head on a stand since I was using a work printer and available time on it was short. The work printers could only print PLA which was a pain to join together, Epoxy glue tended to work, but quickly yellowed at the joins. Sticking the skull piece around the ear was near impossible, so in the end I printed the whole lower skull in one piece.

At the beginning of the summer I bought myself a printer which was able to use ABS, once I had tuned it in I had it running 24/7 building the torso, shoulders and arms.

In my spare time I am a poet and for the last two years I've been putting together a spoken word show which involves robots. I signed up to present it for the first time at the Bournemouth Fringe Festival in October. I knew I wanted Ozy (my InMoov) to star in it and to read one of the pieces. So now I had a deadline to get him finished.

In the end Hobbyking ran out of the servos needed to complete the shoulders, so I decided to content myself with just the head and forearms working. The night before the show I ran through the complete thing and by the time I reached Ozy's bit he stopped responding. I assumed the battery had gone flat as I had been testing bits all week. After a nights charge I tried again, but Ozy was dead.

Eventually I found a melted connector. After repairing this I reconnected everything and got greeted by lots of smoke when I reconnected him. Eventually I found one of my servo shields had died (most likely due to a shortcut in the arm). Getting near to the deadline I managed to get the head and chest neo-pixel working. Even in a crippled state he performed well and frankly stole the show.

I am now waiting for more servos to complete him and a new servo shield, though before long I will get 2 sets of nervo boards and do the wiring properly. While I'm waiting I'm playing with an eye design and working with ProgramAB to give him more of a personality.
