I have united all torso pats, to laser cut it from PC as a one part. Also printing Policarbonate shoulder gears, for more stregth, I have broke 3 of them already :)
Can you share some DXF files? I have a laser cutter at the lab and would like to test this. I was under the impression that Polycarb doesn't cut well on a CO2 laser.
It should cut. Maybe there will be a need to increase the output power (I am not sure, I dont have a CO2 laser cutter)? I just finished combining the back torso. I dont know how good is it. In Sooildworks it renders :)
From what I heard PC doesn't with as clean of an edge on a laser cutter and it tends to discolor. Acrylic cuts quite nicely on a laser. My 3D printer is made from laser cut 6mm acrylic.
I can test them in a few days (maybe Saturday or Tuesday) when I get to go back to the Lab. At the very least I should be able to cut them out of cardboard on the laser just to see how they compare to my assembled print of the original parts.
I plan to cut the same thing, but first I was wondering if anyone tested the dxf? Are there any changes to be made to it, besides closing some of the open vectors?
Is there any reason the plates could not be a bit thinner? They will still be the same distance apart, of course, but would be what appears to be about 1-2 mm thinner if I use the material I have on-hand which is some 3/8 inch Lexan (about 9.5mm).
