LiveCD can not install new software - so you can' tinstall Java on it. If you very crafty you could create a ram disk (I thought they did this) and mount it as read/write.. But, I'm not feeling that crafty at the moment, and it looks like if you install it on a USB/SD drive - you can get persistent data, and more importantly, you can install new software packages.. like java 1.7
Wow is it just me or is getting the fedora usb creator python script to work on windows nearly impossible?
First I installed Python 3.3 (oops)
Then I can see several other programs (cvs & gstreamer) have installed their own version of python :P
Then I installed Python 2.7
But I still can do the install of the Fedora USB/SD live creator :P
Tried installing ez_setup - that appeared to work, but I'm under the impression that ez setup is for repo scripts and modules not local ones ? I don't know I'm swimming around in circles :P
Got frustrated with trying to create a USB Live image on a Windows machine - Decided to do the easy thing and install it on a VirtualBox virtual machine.
The only downside, is that hardware doesn't always work with VirtualBox - for example I've had usb cameras which worked, but not well.
GRRRR ! - So both Alessandruino and myself were unsuccessful in installing the Fedora Robotics Spin on real hardware... strange that it worked on VirtualBox. It looks like in the process Alessandruino's bios became corrupt - and it would not reset.
So next to try to salvage the desktop we need to find the model number of the Asus motherboard..
Brave Sir Alessandruino, will
Brave Sir Alessandruino, will try the Robotics Spin of Fedora !
Me too - The Incubator/build machine needs a new OS !

The install command would be :
$ sudo yum install -y java-1.7.0-openjdk
The details of creating a LiveUSB are here - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraLiveCD
Some older computers are not capable of booting from USB - (it has to be an option in the BIOS)
