Appying a coat of Conductive ink to PLA allows you to Electroplate it with copper.

Its the first time for me and the results are exciting :-

The PLA needs a bit of sanding to roughen it up a bit so that the ink sticks better.

Whoa !

What copper solution are you using - copper acetate ? - similar to this instructable on copper plating?

So, of course you know I'm dying to see you do the circuit design/print with water soluble .2 mm traces ! :D

Go Gareth Go Go Go !!!  Yip Yip Huray !

Its 80grammes of Copper Sulphate in 1 Litre of water (not sure if i should have used distilled or de_ionized...so took a risk with tap water) .

Copper(II) sulfate exothermically dissolves in water to give the aquo complex [Cu(H2O)6]2+

.....its the "ions" and not the "elves"  that do all the work......

Currently making up some PLA & ABS track type things for testing.....

The conductivity of the copper layed down ..... is ..... awsome...... however fragile when thin....

i was reading some where that applying a clear lacquer coat to the part first and waiting till its tacky before applying the conductive ink will help it stick better.
